I don’t think Sessions had any choice but to recuse. And except for the point made earlier about the victim in a crime not being allowed to prosecute the perpetrator, I count it tragic for we as Amercans that Sessions was in that position.
I do think he would have tendered his resignation at any point POTUS requested. As such, I think POTUS has used Sessions investigatory skills and his position for brilliant optics. I’m not of the mind that his recusal kept him from making sure Huber and company did a “Sessions style” thorough investigation. I’m hoping that to prove true.
I think Sessions did everything exactly as he should have and could have. His recusal was absolutely necessary. I am sure that the recusal did not in any way hamper Huber or others from doing their job well. Sessions really sacrificed for the good of the country - us! - and bore ridicule and worse, doing the job he was tasked to do. Much of which has not seen the light of day.
He is an extremely honorable man, dedicated to his duty.
