“Masterful satire...”

As long as you’re talking about the original edition, and not the later edition from 2012 or so, to which someone felt it necessary to add a lot of really lame footnotes.

I agree that Bored of the Rings is the most brilliant parody every. It has the distinction of being the longest in print, just under 50 years and counting. I hadn’t read it in years and recently bought a new copy. Unfortunately I agree the footnotes are pretty lame.

In any event, I hope Wednesday morning my favorite passage will be ringing in the Democrats’ ears:
“Fortune strums a mournful tune,
For those whose campaigns peak too soon.”
