Like caramel ruins apples and butter ruins corn on the cob, milk and sugar ruin the intricate notes of the different coffee varieties. My only exceptions are coffee candy and jamocha shakes....and I’m not some psycho nutcase.

I’ve always preferred cream. One day a guy told me that coffee was good for you - unless you added cream, which made the combination bad. So I tried black coffee for a while. Not only did I not like it, but my white cup started staining really bad and I had to wash it a lot.

Then I wondered what it was doing to my teeth.

I went back to cream. I much prefer it. The two flavors compliment each other. The cream neutralizes the bitterness, allowing the good qualities of the flavor come out. At least for me...

“My only exceptions are coffee candy and jamocha shakes.”

I’m like that. I can only drink black coffee. To me, it’s not bitter, but smooth. And it must be freshly brewed. Old, burned coffee is the worst.

Exceptions are coffee ice cream, the coffee slushie thing at Chick-Fil-A, and coffee candy when I travel, made from real coffee, if I can find it in the store. I don’t like to drink too much when traveling, and I don’t want the coffee withdrawal headache. I don’t really like the candy, but I consider it medicinal.
