I’m a huge fan of Jimmy’s, but he’s a “classic” older American Democrat.
1. Gets his info from the MSM and people like Colbert; doesn’t care enough to look a little deeper into what they say.
2. Votes Democrat because his family has been voting Democrat for generations.
3. Has wanted pot legalized since teen years. Has always thought Republicans stand in the way of that.
4. Has no conception that his “sexist” lyrics and party guy attitude are hated by today’s Democrat PC crowd and campus snowflakes.
5. Born on Christmas Day and has made not one, but two, Christmas albums. Has no idea how today’s Left wants to ban everything Christmas.
6. In short, has absolutely no idea of the authoritarian brown shirts the Democrats have become.

Buffett has always been “beach bubblegum” music, and marketing of parrots, flowered silk shirts and beach blanket bingo. And... dope. Have on excellent, top level (DEA) authority- that Buffett’s planes were never his. IOW on top of being banal, he was (and no longer possibly could still be)... a narc. In that sense, because it serves his business plan— he loves big government, and loved the dope runners even more for the cash flow and stupidity they lent to his musical listener base.
On a positive note— since his own songwriting disappeared long ago (Pirate Looks At Forty, Death of the Unpopular Poet, He Went to Paris...) he has helped true songwriters along the way. Case in point- his promotion of Steve Goodman’s excellent songs, and aiding (still plays in his band) the brilliant Mac MacAnally. So give him credit for that.
On the Leftie front, and proof of a “poseur” of “talent”- NYT’s documented his attendance at a Hampton’s fundraiser for hitlery (in keeping with his affiliation with fellow powder monkey billy “hoover nose” clinton, and dyke-o hitlery who liked the powder as well). At this fundraiser— he changed his “color coordinated” prescription glasses 3 separate times during the party— IOW had a changing room facility— show biz-like. Architecture has facades— good time poseurs have... facades as well. Ageing sailboat coke runners who get into real estate to launder money— nothing particularly talented about that. But for him— it sure beat working for a living.
