Well, then, would you recommend Brave? I have seen some traffic, both here and on other sites, that it’s still not completely functional I’ve got their webpage bookmarked, but I’ve been hesitant to install and use Brave until I’ve heard enough recommendations for it.
Brave isn’t completely “there” yet, but it’s safe to download and use.
I have a copy and use it from time to time. The more I get used to it, the better I like the fact that I’m helping promote a product whose producers reflect my values.
The more airplay it gets, the faster it will come up to speed.
If we don’t patronize products that promote our worldview, and continue to use products that refute, negate, and vilify us, then we will get what we deserve.
Sounds good to me then. I’ll try it on my computers at home. Can’t do much about the one at work though ... the Army frowns upon installing non-approved programs on their computers ...
If they go strictly by IP number, I’m in Houston.
I’m not playing offense here. Just reasonable defense. And I know it’s working because I get reports for other folks who see a web site very differently from me. I’m sure the CIA/DIA/etc. could track me if they want. Let ‘em.
I was also getting the red warning page. I clicked through the page (ignored it) AND my computer went all buggy.
I think I have fixed my problem. I am using Google Chrome. I opened Chrome. Clicked three dots on top right corner. Click settings. Scroll down to Advanced settings. Click this. Scroll down 6 buttons to Safe Browsing: protects you and your device from dangerous sites. Turn this OFF.
Also, I executed a disk clean including system files and restarted my computer. All the buggy stuff is GONE. YAY!
It solved my problem. So far, that is....
UPDATE A Day later: PROBLEM REMAINS FIXED
Use Epic.
Problem solved!

“Passwords harvested exist in large databases. They typically were harvested from using free wifi sites by man-in-the-middle exploits, especially back in the early days.
Continue using those passwords without fear on sites with no monetary issue. That email wants only to scare you into doing something stupid like clicking on a link.
Just because they have a password associated with your email when you logged into yahoo does not mean that they can use it to break into your machine, duh!”
That’s essentially what my ISP’s tech person told me.
“Are you sure the password was used exclusively here?”
To the best of my recollection I never used it anywhere else, although I did begin using it on FreeRepublic MANY years ago - so it’s possible my memory of an instance of usage elsewhere may have faded over time.
I dunno. I use Chrome and the only thing I’ve ever noticed is this “concern troll” notation in my tagline since 10/3...
Haven’t seen it with Firefox...what protection are you using for Virus/Malware? Aw years ago, i went exclusively with Windows Defender and have had zero problems.
> Use Epic.
No version of Epic for Linux.
:(
Many thanks for taking time to explain. Very informative. Cheers!
I’m using Brave on my Linux system right now, and it’s working just great!
Seems like all the stuff that was missing has been patched in.
