FULL TITLE: Caravan's plea for buses is DENIED: Migrants must walk the remaining 900 miles to nearest US border as Mexico ignores demand for transport
Exhausted men, women and children traveling in the largest of the four caravans headed to the US resumed their journey on foot before dawn Thursday after Mexican authorities refused to provide them with buses.
The migrants planned to take advantage of cool overnight and morning temperatures by hitting the road at 3am in Juchitan for a trek to the town of Matias Romero en route to the Gulf coast city of Veracruz, which is a common transit route toward the nearest Mexico-US border crossing in McAllen, Texas.
Organizers previously said their destination was Santa Maria Jalape del Marques in Oaxaca state, but they have decided to change the planned route.
The migrants will have to walk nearly 40 miles from Juchitan to Matias Romero, and from there it's another 445 miles to Veracruz.
The participants of the 4,000-strong caravan have not said what route they intend to take northward or where on the US border they planned to reach, and Juchitan, still about 900 miles from US soil, was something of a crossroads.
Choosing Jalapa del Marques as the next stop appeared to indicate they are opting to travel via Oaxaca state's eponymous capital instead of turning north toward the Gulf coast state of Veracruz, which is a common transit route toward McAllen, Texas.
On Wednesday evening it became clear that Mexican officials were not acceding to the caravan's demand that dozens of buses be provided to whisk the migrants to Mexico City.
'The attempt to travel by bus failed,' caravan coordinator Walter Cuello acknowledged.

I heard it was a demand, not a plea.
Tough hop, they should’ve expected this.
Or any available reefers. Let them cool off, rest those tired old feets.
a guy on video was saying yesterday, I work for $100/wk in Hondoras, I can make $15/hr in America. What the poor fool hasn’t processed is, it takes $10/hr to pay bills in America to go along with that $15/hr wage. Except he’s not eligible to work at all. They don’t get that far in their thinking. Another guy thought he could just find and clear a patch of land, build a shack, and grow bananas and beans. Like America was just one big patch of empty land. When they think of America, they don’t think of any citizens already there, land already occupied.
And you missed the point................
When I hiked regularly, we always used an average hiking speed of 2 miles per hour. At 10 hours a day, it will take them 45 days to get 900 miles.
Soros must be getting cheap not paying the bus tab or something stinks.
Too bad, so sad! What I want to know is: Where are they getting food, water and electricity to charge their cell phones????
Started the truck this morning and the news was talking about how most of the migrants were women and children. Most? Bull hockey. The morning tv news said exactly the same thing: most are women and children.
They are reading a script. On all tv and radio news.
Pure propaganda. Never thought I would see such a blatant attempt to influence the public.
Or it’s because the invaders aren’t producing the desired PR effect, so drop them like an old sock.
People have this idea in their head that there is this diverse eco-system of news organizations, all of them individually hunting down information for themselves, and doing their own autonomous reporting.
In fact, just about every news organization gets non-local news information from a very small number of sources. So it doesn’t matter who you are watching on TV or hearing on the radio or reading in print, they probably got thier (non local) information from the same place.
Big brother has a thousand faces.
What about all the flatbed trucks that they’ve been using?
Garbage trucks would be good too
I have seen video and images of open trucks loaded with these people.
“15 dollars an hour”? He could make more that that scooping poop in SF.
Now that’s cold, LOL!
Get them on the buses and head south.
That should keep them out of the election cycle. You can drive that distance in two days, but they would need non stop bus drivers. Thanks for helping Mexico.
We shouldn’t need to drop leaflets, they have the pictures on their iPads.
you’re assuming they can read, I wouldn’t make that assumption.
