I know it's off music day. Just thinking to get us out of the politics.

“Baby Blue” was not a power ballad. It was a straight forward RnR song. Power Ballads have a slower tempo. That’s what a ballad is. Think slow Elvis songs with big powerful instrumentals behind him.

“Hollywood Nights” is such a song of yearning, youth & the fast lane. Encapsulates that old school 70’s Hollywood to me. A great song & a great story.

Would “DAZED & CONFUSED” qualify as a power ballad?
If so, I vote for it

“A long, long time ago I can still remember
how that music used to make me smile
And I knew if I had my chance
That I could make those people dance
And maybe they’d be happy for a while...”

"Bohemian Rhapsody: Star Wars Edition"

Never heard that rendition, but Bohemian Rhapsody is hardly a power ballad. At most, it is a transitional ballad into fast rock.

Don't think you get what a power ballad is. The tempo is moderately slow to slow (I'm a drummer) with heavy loud power chords on guitar. It's all about the timing and guitar sound.

Ironically, one of the first power ballads was in 1972 - The Carpenters song, “Goodbye to Love” that featured a Fuzz/Heavy Metal-esque Guitar solo that was very “un-Carpenter-like”.

Alice Cooper has said that the solo by Tony Peluso in that song was the best guitar solo ever.
