That’s the only kind of force that would seem to be suitable for a trainload of Abrams or another train I saw that seemed to have several dozen 105mm howitzers.
It may look empty and bypassed, but it really isn't. Lots of goings on in those 'boonies' legit and otherwise, but there is no way to hide that many people there without knowledge. Even if you are talking in Mexico, there is too much info gleaned to stay hidden.

Remember, the caravans have NO legal standing in crossing the U.S. border. The heavy armor is to “repel all boarders” if necessary. Mattis did not use shock troops to clear out ISIS, he used Marine Artillery. They destroyed the enemy one block at a time and simply ‘walked’ them out of their enplacements. This method of projecting force protects our troops by not exposing them to hand to hand combat unnecessarily.
I believe something similar will take place at the border. It is my belief we have already seen the deal. POTUS spoke of the Mexican President’s admission of his military’s inability to deal with this size of an invasion. By offering asylum Mexico has grounds to Request/Demand UN support to Mexico from the UN for troops, logistical support, humanitarian aid, etc.
Just think, column stopped 30-40’miles short of the border at UN refugee camps for processing by UN forces from other than the US! Leaving the camp would be a criminal act as well.
This also prepositions heavy armor and support as well as troops in the areas close to the border should there be any homefront antifa type or MS13 actions to deal with in the southwestern states in the event of armed insurrection.

However, I think it is inconceivable that they are not known about. We have toooo many ways to "see" . . . even from satellites . . . including ten stories underground (not sure if that's from sat's or not).
I do suspect that the massive troops show of force will be used for a variety of patriotic purposes.

The communist way is guerrilla fighters that hide in rural areas aided by less intensive urban factions.
But I don't think rural America would hide the snakes for years like Cuba did.
I do, however, think the RATS would sell out America to foreign enemies in a heartbeat. They've been doing that, in effect, with China since the WTO, which was negotiated by GHWB but signed and ratified under Clinton.
