A universal question...if I am able to, without the slightest increase in pulse or blood pressure, or any change in expression or breathing rhythm, ignore a ringing phone, a barking dog, a manipulative child, a rude, uncivil person as well as any post on here that holds no interest for me or seems trollish in nature, for the love of Pete, why can’t others as well?

Great question with a bit of a complicated answer. They could learn to. Their significant degree of attachment disorder gets in the way. They have a compulsion to try and shove the world into their mold and image. Otherwise, they don’t feel very comfortable. Walking away; ignoring such etc. leaves them feeling unsafe, diminished, like a loser.
They are on a continuum from a little like that to compulsively ragingly like that. The more intense half probably fought a lot with parents, teachers etc. and probably had dads who did the same thing. Of course, your mileage may vary. LOL.

People are unique. Nevertheless, as I've hinted to noted ... in terms of the average person with their panties in a wad--insecurity generated pride, arrogance, brittleness, thin-skinned-ness becomes intolerably uncomfortable in a number of contexts. THEN, with panties in a wad, they set out to vainly try and batter the world into their image. Never succeeding, their panties become more wadded and never become unwadded; so the same dance continues ad-nausea.
