Officially inform Mexico that the meters running on ALL costs associated with this deployment. Crosser’s country of origin doesn’t matter. Mexico had means and more than sufficient opportunity to shut it down. They blew it.
Mexico offered asylum and processing for employment to the people in the caravan. Some took Mexico up on that, while many others turned the offer down. The Mexican government simply doesn’t have the resources to deal with the huge and unruly multitude.
It will be interesting to see what happens after their arrival, probable long after the elections here. They’re in Oaxaca now, which is very close to the southern border of Mexico. They haven’t gotten very far.
The drama so far has only distracted from what we should be doing: getting the vote out here.
