Trump did what he could with what he had to work with, why can't you understand that? He's not a miracle worker like some expect him to be. And he's not done. Do democrats want to negotiate? No. Negotiating is impossible with obstructionists. IMPOSSIBLE. That Trump initially thought negotiation with democrats was possible is not a fault, it's a virtue.

He claims to be the master negotiator. Can move a mountain in negotiations according to him. He met his mountain and the mountain won.

Actually he never put forth a less costly/better coverage/easier to use plan for congress to work from. He let them devise something and the only thing that had a chance of passage was repeal light. McCain stopped it and largely because there was no replacement provision. But never did Congress receive any plan from the White House for a less costly/better coverage/easier to use plan.

I'm not even saying it would be the right thing to do. Just that he made a bold promise and really did nothing to keep it.

Wouldn't the Teddy Roosevelt meme apply to talk radio during the Obama years? Those guys and gals were seen as doing a public service pointing out how Obama stumbled or the deeds that could have been done better. I know. That's different.
