Pakistan did not become a county until 1947. It was British India before that.
It is striking to me that two nations who have been more or less at war with each other (for possibly for very good reasons) have militaries that share the same heritage. You see this at the closing of the border ceremony at Wagah. The uniforms are differentPakistani’s are dark green, India’s khaki, but at the same time look very much the same. Both armies play the same flag-lowering trumpet call, use the same (Ministry of Silly Walks) high stepping ceremonial march.
