911 is a good example. It should be a firefighter centered show like the old Emergency. While they do have decent emergency based plot lines, the “relationship” ongoing story lines are:

The Chief (white male) is dating a police officer (black female). She is still living with her soon-to-be ex-husband (black male) who came out of the closet after 20 years of marriage. He is a reoccurring character as well.

One firefighter’s sister (white female) has moved to town, running from an abusive husband.

One firefighter (black female) is married to her “wife” (black female) and has two children via adoption whose birth mom is one of the firefighter’s ex-girlfriends (white female) who is also a drug addict.

One firefighter (white male) is living in an apartment owned by his girlfriend (race unknown) who is traveling (and screwing) her way across Europe.

One firefighter (Asian male) had a piece of rebar pierce through his skull. He survived, but has had issues since.

It seems that the people in the show that have to be rescued are idiots if they are white and male. People of color are never in trouble because of stupidity.

My wife, who really liked the show at first and has a pretty high tolerance for PC bullcrap has walked out during recent episodes.

Sad really. It could have been a good show.

A couple of years ago here in Pittsburgh we had a firefighter OD on heroin inside the fire station while on duty.

So those plotlines may be closer to reality than you think.
