So, as you say, that would not inspire confidence.
That said, Patton was a cusser. I don't think he cussed out of frustration. I think he probably cussed to emphasis the importance of what he was saying.
Yes, that what I was concerned about - that he was frustrated. I talked to him later (not about his cussing) and he had been on call over the weekend and hadn’t slept a lot, so I’m sure that was part of it.
On the other hand, if Patton was cussing in my basement, I’d be OK with it..
