I just saw parts of the Roy Orbison Hologram concert. It hit a personal note with me and Im going to make an effort to see it in person. When I was 14, my next door friends mom ((who I had a major crush on, the mom, not the friend) gave me a stack of old 45 rpm records. The first one I listened to was Blue Angel by Roy. I fell in love with oldies after that. I cant even remember any one of the other records in the stack.
Ten years later, I was working in Toronto and Roy used to play a free concert at Ontario Place every year. I kept kept promising myself I would go but never did. One day while driving to work, I heard on the radio that he had died. I know it sounds silly, but I called in sick and turned around and wept most of the day at home. Some cultural and music icons have the power to shape some directions in your life and he was one of them.
The man sure had some terrible things happen. That house fire that
Killed a son.I came up on tthat wreck that killed his wife on that
motorcycle.
He used to come to service at church and sit on the back row just
before service started to not cause a disruption..
What a voice and a really nice man.
LOL! Have the hologram say “yes dear” over and over so she doesn’t get suspicious.
