Current estimates are around 10,000. However, the South American group is expected to hook up with an organized group of approximately 40,000 Mexicans in the next few days and reach the U.S. border near election week with well over 50k people total.
Oh my. This IS an invasion. I just read that 40,000 Mexicans are joining in.
This is war. Spray them tear gas before they get any closer. That will prevent the other 40,000 joining.

And it takes a tremendous amount of food and water to provision a mob of 4,000 or 10,000 invaders.
Just look at that photo and think how much water just that small portion of the mob would need every day.
Someone is providing these invaders with transportation and supplying them with food and water.
Cut off any transportation for the weak and overweight and stop incoming supplies of food and water and this invading army won't go anywhere.
If Mexico is serious about stopping them that is the way to whittle down the numbers to a manageable size.
I would like to see the US negotiate with Mexico to permit US forces to enter Mexico, perhaps as a UN force or a joint Mexico/US military operation, to engage this mob on Mexican soil and block them from getting anywhere near the border.
