We toured Dachau (the very first Nazi concentration camp), which is about a 30 minute train ride from Munich. This was considered to be a very small work/concentration camp. Nonetheless, Dachau gassed and cremated 32,000 prisoners during the war. They had four large incinerators running 24/7 during the last years of the war.
The Nazis had 1200 concentration/extermination camps.
