Bottom line: all the tales of a big, recent expansion or upgrade at Gitmo are HOGWASH!

____________________________________________

With all due respect, I may disagree. It's not clear because I may not have enough information. I agree that the photo analysis you performed indicates the photos do not reflect recent changes (thank you for once again performing fruitful analysis on information flung at us).

However, I have been reading about upgrades and recent modifications to Gitmo for about 10 months and some do seem to carry weight.

There was an article posted many threads ago featuring a review of renovations. I recall the article discussed (with photos) new blue themed cells and prisoner uniforms that had been added to a new, separate area of the otherwise orange themed cells/uniforms. OTher articles around January emphasized significantly increased staff housing and a (future) medical facility.

In early spring, there was chatter coming from different corners of the Internet - some about newly empaneled tribunals, some about increased training of specific groups of military personnel that would be required to staff Gitmo, support tribunals etc.

We know Q has mentioned military tribunals and an EO from Trump addresses them - why wouldn't preparations be made to modify the prison to accommodate an expanded commission, so to speak? American traitors may be "entitled" to housing that is separate from foreign terrorists.

In an article dated 10/15/18, lefty rag TheHuffingtonPost.com featured an article that seems preparatory to portraying military tribunals as kangaroo courts - I think it means Huffpo took Lindsay Graham's questions to Kavanaugh about the use of military law for American traitors to heart. Here's a quote:

"Meanwhile, in Gitmo’s military commissions, as in the Kavanaugh hearings, a central, impartial, independent authority was missing. They are overseen by judges without the power and command of those in the federal court system. Instead, as was true with the White House during the Kavanaugh hearings, the command influence of the Pentagon ― and at times the CIA ― has hovered over Gitmo’s hearings from day one."

Here's a recent video snippet also dated 10/15/18 from a video titled "What Does the GITMO Expansion Mean???"

"we've got a heavy board of advisors
05:22
that's for child rescue and one of them
05:24
was a Navy admiral and he was explaining
05:27
to me I was I asked him very early on I
05:29
said, "I'm hearing about expansion of
05:31
Gitmo Admiral and and it seems like that
05:37
might be in preparation for housing some
05:40
of these these traitors, high-level
05:43
government officials that are that are
05:44
treasonous to the American people. Is
05:47
Gitmo in fact chartered to house those
05:52
type of people or is it just as my
05:55
previous understanding, who knows, just
05:57
international terrorists, and he said, "No,
05:59
Greg it's," he goes, "I was part of the
06:01
board that drafted up the Charter for a
06:03
get money goes it's absolutely for
06:04
high-level government officials who are
06:07
traitors."
06:08
He says. "That's absolutely within
06:10
its Charter." So that was encouraging to
06:13
me so and the build out of Gitmo and and
06:15
all these sealed indictments and the
06:18
fact that it is within the Gitmo charter
06:22"

So while you've (once again) astutely debunked a set of photos purporting to show something they do not show, I don't think ALL talk of Gitmo expansion is hogwash. I still believe that SOME expansion and development, increased staffing has been occurring ahead of the trials to come.

"With all due respect, I may disagree."

No problem! My statement was not properly constrained in scope:

~~~~~~~~~~~
The images posted in #284 are deceptive on several levels:
  1. They apparently purport to show an increase of built-out building floorspace area over a (undefined) span of time.
  2. When dates are included, it's clear that the entire structural buildout in the depicted area occurred almost a decade ago.
  3. The area depicted in the photo in #284 does not encompass the entire detention site; in fact there is a larger detention area immediately to the west of the area depicted. However, the above observations apply to the entire detention area.
  4. Also taken into consideration must be the fact that the published Google database ends with 1/5/2017. Activities during the seven quarters since then are not publicly available for observation.
  5. I expanded my observation to include the "Naval" area near the docks, the personnel housing and recreation areas, and the active airfield. The same general observations apply:
    1. Most of the structures, etc. appear to be at least a decade old.
    2. There is little or no visible evidence of recent construction activity.
  6. OHI observations, of course, cannot speak to interior redecorations or re-purposing of standing structures, uniform colors, etc., etc.
Therefore, I must qualify my conclusion to state,
"There is little evidence of new or expanded building area in evidence in the detention facility. Rumors of recent major detention camp capacity expansion are, as yet, unfounded."
