The Chinese gov't might pay lip service to stop this illicit trade but I am sure they are happy. They see it as payback for the West pushing opium into China in the 19th century.

Thanks to FDR’s Delano grandfather.

People putting dangerous drugs into their system is killing thousands of Americans. The chicoms are taking advantage of this colossal stupidity.

They see it as part of Unrestricted Warfare. Download and read the book.

Mainly for money, there is an important ideological part of it:

It’s payback for their “Hundred Years of Humiliation” —Unfair treaties, trade concessions, Opium Wars, etc.

They see it as Getting Even with us.

China once was unquestionably the Drug Addict Headquarters of the world.

It's not only the Chinese, but many sleep aids Such drugs for insomnia and/or anxiety include brand names like Ativan, Valium, Xanax, Resteril, Ambien, Lunesta, and others.

As our population gets older and has more difficulty sleeping as we age, I have no problem with those who need such drugs. That said, some side affects make people walk in their sleep and do stupid and dangerous stuff. I know of a case. However, most are not addicting and improve the quality of life through sound sleep.

Sorry folks, but the old advertisement, "better living through chemistry" is still true depending on need and reactions. Is there anyone on this board who has never taken an ibuprofen for a headache? Or what about sudafed or claritan for nasal congestion?

My only problem is the insane cost of prescription meds here in the States. I get that the pharmaceutical companies have to spend a gazillion dollars for research and then deal with the FDA. However, you can buy the same generic formula drugs out country. Not fair.

“They [The Chinese] see it as payback for the West [The British Empire] pushing opium into China in the 19th century.”

So, America is the target?

[WIKI] “The Opium Wars were two wars in the mid-19th century involving China and the British Empire over the British trade of opium and China’s sovereignty. The clashes included the First Opium War (1839–1842) and the Second Opium War (1856–1860). The wars and events between them weakened the Qing dynasty and forced China to trade with the other parts of the world. The victorious British were successful in inducing an opioid crisis in China, which seriously undermined Chinese society.”

No one is forcing idiots to do drugs. They’ll find a way to kill themselves with or without Chinese fentanyl. Every one dead, is one less trying to sell to kids.

Not really anything new on China’s part.
