Imagine if there were armed conflicts, the media spin would be that trigger happy gun toting conservatives started shooting and the first leftist killed would instantly become a martyr. This technique was very effectively used by the Nazis. When one of their brown shirts, Horst Wessel, was shot in a violent clash with the Communists on the streets of Berlin, the Nazis made him an instant martyr for their cause. A march was even written in his honor and became the official Nazi anthem.
