I sometimes hate to admit I’m related to them, but many good ol’ East Texas rednecks like a local delicacy called “Squirrel Mulligan.” It’s basically a stew made with squirrel meat. The problem is, many die hard rednecks down here will throw whole squirrels into the pot - head and all.
I should be thankful that I never cared much for the dish myself.
Heads first to go before “pants-ing”. Tough getting fur specs out, clean headshot best plan. Can those critters, bugs be cooked out?

You wont get creutzfeldt-jakob or Mad cow (I thought these were different btw) if you thoroughly cook your ‘food’.
You wont get parasites and you wont get bacterial infections either.
Maybe you’re a back bush redneck if you don’t cook your food, I don’t know, but I doubt it.
I collect cookbooks - especially older ones from the south. Many squirrel recipes. Brunswick stew often included it. Poor people food.
I ate Squirrel Mulligan last Sunday after a victorious squirrel hunt. I feel fine!
