That's an interesting take on it, but one also has to look at the sheer number of Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles, and the usual sales cycle that has bounced its way through the financial pages of history. The number of Electric Vehicle (EV) sales is miniscule compared with liquid fueled cars and trucks.

Ping.

...
For the last quarter I believe the Model 3 came in at number five. In terms of revenue I believe the Model 3 is number one since it is a more expensive car than the Corolla or Camry.
Saint Elon. King of the grifters is selling his snake oil again to the weak minded fools .
Most seeking alpha stuff is garbage
I’d wager that if they took away the right for these things to use the carpool lane and the rebate subsidies, that their sales would drop off like a rock.
15th... but up 18,917.09%
Fire sale month?
Four million vehicles were produced in the US by all makers combined in 2016. Tesla's persistently missed weekly output numbers promised by Elon Musk. The latest Model 3 number is 6000 per week, Tesla hasn't averaged above 5000, and even that lower number would work out to 260,000 per year. Forbes' estimate of the running total Model 3 production hasn't reached 100K yet (not per year, in history), and some of those sales canniabalized sales of the higher-end Tesla models. The promise of the lower priced Model 3 also hasn't been borne out. If I had the cash, I'd consider one after a couple of years of shakedown cruises by other people. I'd also get a towing package (or add one) so I could tow a low-profile gasoline-powered generator, for those long drives. :^)
So... Sales are good.
How well are they actually delivering?
I’ve read that some people are STILL waiting two years to get their car delivered.
And now that the subsidies on the backs of U.S. taxpayers are ending, how are sales going to be in the future?
Au contraire, of the financial 'blogs, Seeking Alpha is the best.
Buyers are abandoning cars for trucks and suvs more than anything
Ford and Fiat/Chrysler shifted hard into trucks, but after an initial upward bounce, everything went to pot. Take a look at the hit to Ford stock if you don't concur. EVs have an advantage in the number of parts needed to build a vehicle, (lower production cost) and markups on ICE cars in general are lower than on trucks, so we won't be seeing any further attempts at building (or continuing to build) higher-fuel-economy sedans of any kind. EVs also have a flat-on-the-floor performance advantage.
After the production level exceeds a preset number (which Tesla has already done this year, or will soon), federal rebates are phased out. A while back the state of Georgia got rid of the state rebate and Tesla sales dropped off right away, but recovered by the end of the year.
Easy to do when there aren’t many real *cars* in the mass market. Show me something large (American sized), V6/I6 powered, and not over 30k.
Not likely to find many outside the used car market.
Completely disagree. The most ridiculous articles get posted there by pretend finance people. At least they do post transcripts of earnings calls. That is helpful for people without access to Bloomberg, Thomson reuters, factset, etc.
What I don’t understand is why Musk is building a factory in china.
That whole factory will be seeded with listening devices. Every chinese musk hires will compete with every other chinese Musk hires to steal a piece of the Tesla factory IP.
It won’t be two years before an exact exact replica of the TESLA plant is built in China. It will be owned and operated by the Chinese. Musk will get no redress.
Pump and dump / Short and distort
That's what seeking alpha does.
EVs are toxic and polluting in multiple ways and to a greater degree than ICE.
The government’s use of taxpayer funds (that’s money taken by force from you, BTW) to further production and sale of these vehicles is criminal. Let the market decide.
