I’ve read that belladonna dilates the pupils hugely. In the olden days, women would put drops of belladonna extract (or something) into their eyes for that purpose to look more enchanting or something.

Belladonna is an intoxicant of some sort, I have no idea how people use it. The big flowers do smell intoxicating.

It should also be noted that Belladonna Took was the mother of Bilbo Baggins and accounts for his uncommon "adventurous" spirit. For, as we all know, Hobbits consider adventurousness an unattractive trait. But the Tooks were exceptional.

p.s. While it's possible that Stormy Horseface used belladonna to look pretty, I suspect she also is a drug user. It goes hand in hand with her chosen profession. I would be surprised to find out that she's "clean and sober".

But I'm sometimes overly suspicious.

It’s a hallucinogenic in sub toxic doses. Like LSD (IIRC, belladonna compounds were one of the research avenues towards synthetic hallucinogens). They make your pupils dilate bigly, like your brain is trying to make the openings bigger to let more information in... ;-)

I hear it was used as an additive to LSD to enhance the hallucinations.
