Just heard Mexico is deploying 500 police to their southern border to stop them.

Is it a serious effort of just for show to placate President Trump?

This is an invading army 4,000 strong.
About the size of an infantry brigade composed of 5 battalions.

If Mexico is serious, 500 police officers will not be able to stop 4,000 unless they are prepared to use serious force.

All 500 cannot be alert and on duty 24 hours a day - they have to sleep and eat.
