good morning (well noon here).
exit82 - do you live near fishtalk (Freeper) ? She posts regularly on the Sunday morning talk show threads and refers to her area as the Swamp of Delaware (think she is referring to lay of land rather than corruption as she used the term way before DJT was on the scene.)
Bgill - glad you are weathering all this flooding so far safely and with nominal personal damage. Scary stuff
Im in my last Clancy book. Clancy actually died a couple years ago (mystery death - not reported details etc) and he has two other people that have taken over his work. This is a 2018 book and lots of vernacular for today in it - fake news etc. Any typical Clancy lots of intrigue of nations - mideast, croatia, russia, china..
And scary about our first lady. I can’t help but think sabotage but what I know about aviation mechanics is non existent.
Laundry will be waiting another day as I am just still not the energy bunny to make the effort.. yesterdays easy outing for lunch with friend Jim was an effort.
Now at library. and will spend most of day here. Its warm(My chair has the sun shining on my back), has wifi, and Im in a cozy plush chair (not regular hardbacks ). I have 4 DVDs I checked out.. Ill possibly watch 2-3. Will go out and let Lucy walk a bit between each. Im parked in sun so she is warm there. I feel badly going in anywhere and leaving her in cold.
Ive seen the three movies: Darkest Hour, Iron Lady and Midnight in Paris. Saw Paris several times in theater.. really enjoyed it (obviously). Saw the other two once in theater. The fourth is a compilation of Ed Sullivan show featuring the biggies from 60s and 70s that got their first or close to first showings on his show (Beetles etc). Looking forward to that one and hope its not in terrible shape like so many of the library movies are
Well, I’m about talked out. and its ping time ad then showtime here in Ohio.. LOL. Rallies next few days..yeah!
NIkos1121. If you post a thread for the rally please ping me early to it if you want me to add it to our ping.
I LOVE, LOVE Midnight in Paris. Definitely one of those movies you can watch over and over, again.
Thanks for the ‘reminder’ :-)
Stay warm!!

Here's the middle of Kingsland. Boats floating down the main street. The library is right behind the Subway but a bit higher ground so hoping they didn't get flooded. The city water (damaged so the town is out of drinking water) is behind the library and across the road from that is the restaurant I posted about that was used as one of the "Texas Chainsaw Massacre" houses. The bridge collapse is on the other side of town. This picture is deceiving. They used a zoom lens or something because the lodge sign in front of Subway is actually a considerable distance away from Subway.
I heard the Dairy Queen several blocks north of there was flooded out. The town has/had 3 bridges and a slab crossing due to rivers on the west, south and east side, so yeah, it'll be years before they're back to normal. Nothing like Michael but still bad.
Just talked to the neighbor's yardman. He lives in Kingsland and says it's a total mess. Said he was one of the last cars across the bridge. Lots of his customers have lost everything along the shore and he's been out securing his vacation customers' stuff. He said everyone is so mad at the water authority opening Buchanan. Everyone is saying they should have dropped the lakes at the first sign of flood waters upstream. But, as usual, LCRA waited until it was too late.
We're hearing loud crashes and bangs as the water filled boats are collapsing docks. I'm watching a buoy doing gymnastics so something is caught up in it's cable under the water. Also, strong gas smell.
Dolly, yes I have met Fishtalk.
She and I actually lived in the same town in DE, but I moved more easterly, and am about 12 miles from that town now.
We have “talked” on FR now and then over the years.
When her husband passed a few years back, I attended her husband’s wake and introduced myself and we had a great time talking about FR.
She is a very nice lady who is really clued in on the politics in DE.
Just checking in between my doings today, have about 1/2 hour before I need to be off again.
Good to hear you have a nice warm cozy place to watch movies.
I haven’t seen Midnight in Paris, didn’t like how Thatcher was portrayed at the end of Iron Lady and liked The Darkest Hour very much.
Hard to watch moves through the prism of the leftest thought think.
Hey, can’t you have Lucy declared a Therapy Dog, which she is for you, so she can come into all places with you? Just thinking......
Thanks for the movie ideas. I hadn’t seen Midnight in Paris and it sounds like one I would like.
