So no breakfast; just a mid-afternoon meal as a one meal a day routine?

Correct but I don't do it every day. Maybe only once or twice a week. I find it a very effective way to get my weight back into line when I have eaten a buffet meal (low carb) the day before and want to get back into the groove again.

Many swear by this and I have met lots of people who only eat once a day. Every one of them was thin. I guess they were able to turn off or ignore the hunger pangs somehow or just get used to them.

Definitely no hunger pangs at normal dinner time. Also if I know I am going to Dunch that day, I am not feeling really hungry until about 1 that afternoon but I sort of know that the food cavalry will soon be arriving so it helps me psychologically.

So PJ; have you been able to average the amount of weight lost per week yet?

On average between weigh-ins which are spaced approx. 40 days apart I lose over 20 pounds of loss or a little over 4 pounds per week without "suffering." However some weeks I am sort of "locked in" to a weight which in a way is good because my body seems to get used to a new low before proceeding further down. Other weeks I can lose 7 pounds before reaching a lower plateau at which my body also "locks-in."

PS: Keep on bowling. :) Swimming laps is good too if you have access to an indoor heated pool. I didn’t find exercise helped me lose weight directly (indirectly maybe) but it kept muscles toned (tone muscle burns more cals) and made me feel better in general which makes it worth it.

The absolute best way (at least for me) is skin diving. I ALWAYS lose weight while doing that activity. I have already lost about enough weight that I don't think I will be like a blimp in the water. Pretty soon I am going to skindive a nearby reef as well as a shipwreck about 500 yards from shore off Delray beach. And after that I plan on getting a kayak and spearfish again down in the Keys.

I’m so envious you have easy access to skin/scuba/snorkel diving. I’m a certified diver but haven’t dived in decades. I have considered a move to Florida a time or two just because of all the ocean and Gulf access. I hope you know how lucky you are. :)

No matter when I eat dinner, I just am NOT hungry in the mornings. I can go til 3 or 4, before I get hungry. My problem is that once I eat, I want to eat in the evening, as well. (This is much lessened if I stay away from simple carbs like things made with white flour). I have type 2 diabetes, and my last hgb a1c was 5.3, which is a non-diabetic level. But I also have depression, and many psychiatrists recommend eating something as soon as you get up in the morning.
Once you take yourself off simple carbs, your cravings for them will disappear. But I don’t beat myself up. If I go out to eat, I’ll try to choose lower carbs, but I’m not a Nazi about it; if I want some potato or bread, I’ll eat some, though less than I might otherwise.
