I thought they were developers. When they bought Laurel Park and Pimlico, the rumor was that they intended to put Laurel out of business and develop the property. (It hasn’t happened.)
Just a non-sequitor, but one of my high school friends married one of Stronach’s senior executive’s daughters. It was one hell of a wedding and reception. This was back in the hey day of Magna and my friend’s wife’s family was probably worth $500 million.
