I’ve been pretty virus free, you really just need to watch where you download stuff from, especially programs, not click on e-mail links. The best way is to get a VPN so your IP address shows up random, like from Zimbabwe, etc.
If someone gets your IP address they can easily run a program to find your open ports, once they do that they can get in and run rogue programs. It’s easy and I know how to do it being in the field for 34 years.
Once they have your IP address they can also find out your location right down to the street address.

I’m aware, hadn’t done the VPN though. I’m just a warm, lovable, harmless, fuzzball.....oh wait, that’s that other guy.
I don’t do any critical personal stuff on the box I’m using now. I like isolation, short time connections, go dark.
