Now I like squirrels. I even had a pet squirrel, once, for a very short time before its instincts activated when it reached maturity, and it ran away and wouldn't come down from the tree. But I do not and cannot see them as “emotional support animals.”

Dogs, cats, even horses, miniature or otherwise, possibly rabbits, or descented skunks (I'm told they socialize to humans quite well). But squirrels?

Squirrels can get attached to people and people to squirrels.

When I was in college, I started to feed some squirrels on campus with walnuts, which they liked very much.

They got to know me and the treats so well, that when I called out to them, they recognized my voice and came to me, even sat in my lap and on my shoulder, and I was feeding them.

They were adorable.
