Bubonic plague (Yersinia pestis) is endemic in the Southwest. Annual cases are generally in the 10-15 range, but sometimes during drought conditions it will go a little higher. It is curable with antibiotics in its early stages.

Hansen's Disease (leprosy) is also curable with antibiotics. The World Health Organization provides medications at no cost to patients.
