What bothers me is the “them” and “us” attitudes——I find it divisive.
.
Me too - very divisive.
I read, follow, and occasionally participate in the Q threads. I also read, follow, and occasionally participate in the non-Q threads.
I don't participate in the Catholic threads because I'm not Catholic (I'm Lutheran, so if anything, I'd be nailing things to their doors). But I don't despise those discussions, and I would never choose to troll them.
I would expect similar courtesy for Q threads. If it doesn't interest you, then don't follow and post.
I've seen obvious trolling of the Q threads. I've also seen inquisitive posts and posts by people that want nothing to do with them. I have no problem with the latter 2, but when someone deliberately takes time to post their disdain for the existence of a discussion on Q, then they are trolling and should be called out.
That concerns a lot of us who really care about FR.
There was a time when "FReeper Activism" meant standing on a street corner with a sign (maybe with a "Sore Loserman" theme)... '-)
20 years or so later, some of those FReepers find themselves confined to a recliner -- or a wheelchair. But, they still have that activism drive -- and have sought their own forms of continued conservative activism. (Even if it's just creating today's analogue of the demonstration sign -- the "Meme"...)
Jim Rob's FR (bless it!) has never been homogenous -- and that's one of the loveable things about being here.
Lately, though, the senseless acrimony has become painful -- and totally unnecessary. And, it's certainly not because FR lacks for external enemies...

During my career in industrial research, I found one theme to oft be useful:
The opposite definitely belongs elsewhere:

No matter your view of "Q", one theme from "the 'Q' Team" definitely applies to all of us here on FR:
It's been traced to the inscription on the bell of JFK's yacht -- possibly, from the movie, "White Squall"...
But, its meaning definitely applies to all us FReepers:
If FR goes down, Conservatism and Freedom will have lost a great voice.
Does any one of us want to have a part in causing that tragedy?
