Peterson is absolutely brilliant within his “lane”, which is as an academic psychologist looking at the destructiveness of certain ideologies, and how to combat them mostly on an individual level. But as far as politics go, particularly American politics, not sure he’s really thought things through very far, and this tweet was absolutely idiotic, even as a “thought experiment”.

It’s the classic difference between what a person could do, and what they should do. Within the boundaries of logic, a person could do many different things. Within the framework of ethics or conscience, one choice often presents itself as what one should do.

But sure, Kavanaugh could have sworn off the legal career altogether and taken up the life of a Buddhist monk in a remote cave. I’ll bet he gave that option a bit of thought too. :)

I'm actually kind of glad he did it - but you're entirely correct.

Most people, including Americans, don't really understand American politics.
