You overestimate the discernment of large swaths of the American electorate. The last hour news about the Bush slow drunk driving incident decades prior to the 2000 election almost gave Gore the Presidency. THIS electorate is far and away the dumbest, and most brainwashed, in my lifetime.
No, I do not overestimate the lack of discernment and dumbed down state of the American people. The lack of discernment and ignorance is one of my pet peeves.
