I love trains.
Some of the best scenery out west can only be seen from a train. Amtrak thoughtfully schedules the passage through that scenery at night. If I were to choose to take a long-distance train to the west coast, I’d have to drive an hour to the nearest Amtrak station, catch the train at something like 6 AM, have a 10-hour layover in New Orleans (to go to L.A.) or an even longer layover in Chicago to take the scenic route to S.F.
