I wanted Trump to nominate Amy this time, instead of Kavanaugh.
My reasons were:
1. Amy would have more than Kavanaugh helped avoid the #MeTooMovement linking by the Dims to any Trump nominee, at this time here in 2018, with the Mid Terms coming up.
2. The Dims don’t like her, but their attacks on her would have hurt them more with women in general, and that would have been a good thing.
3. It would have been a statement that men and women do not have reserved places on the court.
4. Then before or after 2020, whenever Ginzberg’s seat becomes vacant (which I predict it will), that’s when I would have nominated Kavanaugh and again reinforcing item 3., that the sexes do not have reserved seats on the court.
Unfortunately for that scenario, the most likely next chance Trump may now have to nominate Amy would be to replace Ginzberg, and then he may be inclined to do so just because she is a female - keeping, instead of demolishing, the idea that the sexes have reserved seats.
I think Sotomayer who has diabetes will be the next one. She’s gained weight.
