For its first 180 years, justices were almost always white male Protestants.

Prior to the 20th century, a few Roman Catholics were appointed, but concerns about diversity of the Court were mainly in terms of geographic diversity, to represent all geographic regions of the country, as opposed to ethnic, religious, or gender diversity.

But. Talk about Original Americans vs. immigrant Johnny-come-latelies. There's no Indians... oops, Native Americans on the Court, either, and never have been, not one.

It’s about time, then, for a conservative American Indian to be there. I think the only one who’s a lawyer and very involved is Whitehouse, and we don’t want HIM!! Maybe the day will come...
