Dumb question, but how is the voting done? I remember for Clarence Thomas, someone polled the senators one by one. That way, everyone knows how everyone previous voted.
But I also have seen them do simultaneous voting, where everyone pushes the button at once. That way, no one knows initially how everyone else voted.
I’m not sure, so if it’s a dumb question I’m asking the same one. One I have is can they vote via proxy? Senators and Congresscritters must physically miss votes on occasion.
