Interestingly, the local KK still has it's "Hot Doughnuts Now" sign, even though they no longer make the donuts there, but instead at some central facility. False advertising at its worst.
There is a franchise just developing in our area called The Fractured Prune that originated on the east coast. They're meant to be served warm and "made to order" - meaning they have a base donut and several options of toppings and are made as you wait.
I bought some because a friend of my daughter owns one of the franchises. I guess I really don't care for "hot donuts" right out of the fryer, because I wasn't impressed.
