The night John Lennon was shot in December, 1980, a drunk co-ed pried open the doors of the elevator on the 17th floor of Rhoades Hall at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, VA, and fell down the shaft to his death.

The door to the elevator shaft in the lobby was open and yellow crime scene tape cris-crossed the entrance. As expected, blood was seen splattered all over the the inside of the elevator shaft.
