This is actually true for classical music as well. But it has been downhill for the past 200 years.
Uh, I kinda like some of Yanni's big orchestra stuff. Yes, it's pop, but kinda gets you going. Try it sometime. Definitely not Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, or Strauss, but for modern ears, it can work. It's definitely not 3 chord arrangements like rock. Check out his Acropolis or Tribute albums. Huge orchestral productions.
If you have one musical bone in your body, you'll enjoy or at least appreciate them. They're like 25 years old now are still as full filling as back then. Sure he's done more, but lost track.
