Tracing the Wiki history of Boof
The first mention of it was Mar. 30, 2007
https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=boof&oldid=2261423
Fast forward to September 22, 2018.
anfd we see a couple of meanings have been added over the years
https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=boof&oldid=50358684
Now a couple of small steps forward to September 29, 2018
https://en.wiktionary.org/w/index.php?title=boof&oldid=50401739
and we see someone, a Mx. Granger, has revised the page. Adding a new defintion
I graduated high school in 1979 in California. Boof meant flatulence. A good friend of mine was known at school as “King Boof” for the obvious reasons. I suspect my yearbook has a reference to this somewhere in the signatures.
What did it mean in 1982 at Kavanaugh’s high school
We did not have urban dictionary back then
High school students did not have the internet to share slang terms
That is the definition that matters here.
Leftists are trying to turn it into a gay sex term, just to hurt/embarrass Kavanaugh more.

Fortunately, you kept a large supply of noseplugs.
First heard of “boof” and “booking” as concealing objects in the backside in 2012.
“I can boof that.” was what the person said, I went “what?”
Someone else explained the concealing.
Being that this was on a military post, the jokes immediately began about hiding ridiculous items like fire hydrants and vehicles to sneak them off post.
Why, darned if I know.
Jokes just happen like that when you give soldiers an opening to crack wise about and the fragile feelings of the brass aren’t around.
I remember it as flatulence. Pretty sure I heard it in a movie too.
Mx Granger references the following quotes as reference for his revision....although how good a source for info is 'Usenet'?
He seems to have a gone through a search of esoteric sources to find justification for the Dem interpretation.
If they said it was for flatulence, it was for flatulence. The senator that thinks otherwise reads everything as a homosexual act of degeneracy for some reason...
Exactly, I’ve been incensed at this (and Sheldon Whitehouse, who should be BOOFED out of office in November) all week!
Hub and I have even had arguments over whether the boys would have had ANY clue to the “urban” meaning of this word. I said “no way!! Catholic schoolboys would never have PUBLISHED this word for their moms and priests to read if it had such a sexual connotation.
Yeah, I’ll have to yield to the Senator’s broader knowledge of homo slang.
thank you for posting this!
Sheldon Whitehouse is an uber aristocrat, from a debauched boarding school where perhaps boofing was something else.
And on Usenet, that is ancient history.
I was thinking Boof Bonser. Don’t know who he was in literature.
Boof Bonser was a Minnesota Twins baseball player.
How did it spread? I HAVE NO IDEA; BUT IT DID!
Where’s the Boof?
I actually did a search for ‘Dickens boof’.
If Dickens didn’t use it, it wasn’t a word! :)
LOL
