Fess Parker was awesome because he went to college in the town where I was born. But Audie Murphy was my hero as a kid. My dad liked to tell his story so he was the real deal for my brothers and me.
Not Connors or Arness. I had many Fess Parker items - hat and tent, etc - and a couple gave me Fess Parker wine just a few years ago, knowing how much I loved him. My earliest autograph was Tod Andrews, the Grey Ghost. But The Adventures of Hiram Holliday totally won my heart and I never lost my love of Wally Cox. My hero.
