You did not mention a source for your claim. And Flake already wrote that he’ll vote to confirm Kavanaugh.
I don’t have a source. I’m going from watching how these things work, and these people work.
All the democrat antics were to delay the committee vote.
Now they have to delay the final confirmation vote, and they’ll attempt to do that by convincing the moderates to not vote for cloture, because “there needs to be further investigation” or “the investigation isn’t complete” or “it’s scope wasn’t broad enough.”
They are desperate to prevent a final vote. Their democrats are already wavering. Manchin wants to vote yes to save his hide, and Donnelly is getting nervous. They want to keep their seats. And the easiest way to make a hard decision is when you’re safely reelected. So they want to delay the final vote till after the election.
In the mean time, they need to prevent a cloture vote, which should be at the end of this week. That’s their next goal.
If Flake (and the others) go along with cloture, it’s a sure bet they’ll vote to confirm. So keep your eye on the cloture vote!
