So send him a PM. It sounds like you are one of those folks that think science is a conspiracy. And you would never trust the big pharma companies.

Personally, I think that way of looking at the world is ridiculous. It’s like thinking the world is flat because you cannot see the curve.

I prefer not to get small pox, so I am glad my school system believed in science in 1965.

Mostly in this thread I see a lot of people that are true believers in their science, exactly like the global warming people are believers in theirs. Just depends on which flavor of fearmongering each one latches onto, I guess. The "if you doubt the effectiveness of vaccines, you must believe the earth is flat" is the same logic I see from the global warming cult. "The science is settled!"

Influenza isn't smallpox. Smallpox was capable of being eradicated. Influenza mutates into an endless variety of strains over time and incubates in various nonhuman animal and bird species.

Mortality from influenza dropped down to about 5 per 100,000 population just after WW II. It has stayed down there ever since. In the early 1930s during the great depression it had been running about 40 per 100,000. It dropped fairly rapidly once economic conditions improved. The death rate from influenza dropped because of an improved economy. It had absolutely nothing to do with flu vaccines. The current rate of mortality due to influenza probably can't feasibly go any lower. Some percentage of the population is going to have some basic health issues such that if it isn't the flu that gets them, something else will in short order. Influenza is not going to be eradicated by flu shots, so it will continue to gets its share of those deaths.
