The supposed man you mention is praying in church, not praying a boastful prayer out loud in the public square. The rich Pharisee was bragging about himself in prayer; he wasn’t beseeching God for the salvation of souls and asking for healing blessings on Mr. Jones and For Mrs. Phillips who was facing cancer surgery.
