What if Judge never worked at a Safeway? Maybe a different store, but not a Safeway. Remember when BK was asked if he was the character in Judge’s book named Bart Kavanaugh? Bart was not really Bret. Maybe Safeway was used and he actually worked at a different store?

CBF found that in the book and used it to anchor her story assuming it was somewhere he really worked so she could say she ran into him there and he appeared pale and nervous to see her.

Judge does not write in his book that he worked at the Potomac Village Safeway. He just says he worked at a "local supermarket".

If he worked at another place besides Safeway, it would destroy Ford's claim. But if was the Safeway, it could be either a good guess, or she could have known it another way. And even if she did see him there, it doesn't confirm the party story in any way.
