I just heard about the polygraph test that was given to Ford...IT WAS BOGUS!!! a quack!!! a legitimate testing technique was not utilized using a Control Question, Irrelevant questions and specific issue question. NONE of these were utilized rendering the test INVALID.!!!!!
In my previous job as an engineer for a defense contractor with a high-level security clearance I have been through polygraph tests about every 5 years. Two questions does not make sense at all. The first questions are to get your baseline for heart rate, breathing rate and blood pressure. They are questions like stating your whole name, birth date and city of birth. Then questions like mother and father names and occupations. Then they get to the adversarial questions like have you ever given classified US information to an unauthorized or foreign person? The change in readings may show stress with the question, but it is not accepted in courts because someone may just feel distress at the question even if they did not do it.
With Blasey-Ford they did not even ask the baseline questions so there was not even an honest attempt at a polygraph test, even though it would not prove anything if properly applied.
polygraphs do not detect lies.
testers are trained to use them psychologically.
from one who has experienced them firsthand. are also spent a good deal of time researching them.
Sorry, I didn’t post my credentials. I am a retired polygraph examiner and was the Director/Instructor of a National Polygraph school for many years. I saw the info about the test on Laura Ingraham’s program and saw the guy who gave the test...pure quackery.
I’m sorry you feel that way. A polygraph test is only as good as the examiner administering the test. I gave hundreds of exams and trained many Law Enforcement examiners. I would not have worked years in a profession that I didn’t see produce the results of being able to verify deception and truth when utilized properly.
I read one of your previous posts about being a polygraph examiner and was hoping you’d chime in.
It might be time to post a long vanity about how polygraphs work from an expert FReeper perspective.
Maybe I’m wrong. Also maybe truly skilled examiners can make them work. I also suspect that with your expertise you probably could tell when someone was lying even without the equipment, which acted to verify.
