Simple explanation is she could have just made the opening sentence of that paragraph in a larger font when she typed the letter.

Are there other discrepancies? I’m no expert in this. Where’s Buckhead when we need him?

Often done in novels - not so much in letters - especially on a paragraph that isn’t the leading one. Pretty meaningless anyway as far as “bombshells” go.
