I was there that day, 17 years old. It remains one of the most memorable experiences of my life. My brother and a couple of our friends took the Greyhound bus from Atlanta so that we could be in Boston for the Bi-centennial. Four teenagers, no adult supervision, just hopped on a bus and took off, and our parents were cool with that. Truly a different America in so many ways.
The next year, I went off to college, subscribed to National Review, and soon became a conservative in actual thought.

Truly a different America in so many ways. I was working 4-12 as a field teletypewriter repairman in lower Manhattan in 76, so I was constantly walking around town. I don't know how to describe the "atmosphere" in the City that summer except to say that "it just felt good."
Never felt that way about the City before or since and I was there 57 years, born and raised.

Was just rewatching and thinking, sadly, that most shown in this footage would no longer stand and sing the Battle Hymn of the Republic, or wave giant flags on the 4th of July....
....no, many of them are now about to retire after having taught younger generations to hate America, as they do.
Not all, but many of them :(
