President Trump welcomed his friend Egypts President El-Sisi to the Palace. The president did not answer our shouted questions on whether he intends to meet Irans President Rouhani.
Similar format to the South Korea bilat — both presidents had a row of advisers seated alongside them. A slightly different mix on the American side this time. POTUS was joined by VP Mike Pence, Secretary Mike Pompeo, Amb. Bolton, Senior adviser Jared Kushner, Sarah Sanders, Middle East adviser Victoria Coates and Pence’s national security adviser Keith Kellogg.
President Trump hailed the relationship with Egypt’s president and noted “very special things happening”
He said the U.S. is “working with Egypt on many fronts including military and trade.”
President El-Sisi hailed the “longstanding relationship.” As he has done before, he commended President Trump on his campaign pledge to combat terrorism and said that he is succeeding in achieving this goal.
President Trump said he wants to “congratulate” El-Sisi for his own efforts to combat terrorism. He said they “we’ve done very well” POTUS particularly noted efforts in Syria, saying, “we’ve wiped out ISIS. We are in the final throw.”
Again -— POTUS did not respond to shouted questions.
